Nova Scotia Good Cheer Trail

Food Trail

About

Nova Scotia’s Good Cheer Trail is Canada’s first and only winery, brewery, distillery, cidery and meadery trail. It celebrates Nova Scotia’s rich culinary history dating back to 1606, when the first meeting of L’Ordre du Bon Temps (Order of Good Cheer) took place in Port Royal. Established to assist in surviving the winter, the Order of Good Cheer is also considered one of the first known gastronomic societies, bringing people together through food and drink. The weekly feasts continued through the winter of 1606-07 and served to raise the spirits of inhabitants of Port Royal. The gatherings regularly included indigenous guests, with Membertou and Massamouet, Mi’kmaw chiefs in the area, often taking part. Today, the Good Cheer Trail celebrates bringing people together through Nova Scotia food and drink. Crafted by family traditions, compelling history and exciting innovation, there are 89 trail stops to discover on the 2023 Good Cheer Trail. Follow the trails. Capture the moments. Collect the stamps. Get the prizes. What will you tap into on the Good Cheer Trail? The Good Cheer Trail is located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship.”
