There’s nothing quite like a Christmas market to dive straight into the coziness of the holiday season and revel in the kind of warmth that only mulled wine under the glow of twinkly lights can provide. While the Christmas market as a concept has been replicated the world over, each one still offers a distinct charm celebrating the people and products unique to the region. Québec is especially skilled at weaving in elements tied to European traditions with regional artisans, products and entertainment that celebrate the craft and passion that locals bring.
Hundreds of market villages will be popping up throughout the months of November and December in the province and if you’re heading their way for the food, you won’t be disappointed! We’ve scoured the lists and picked out the festive celebrations that will offer you a chance to taste local delicacies and imported goods.
Bundle up and prepare to be awed as you take comfort in the sense of nostalgia that comes with candied nuts, hot chocolate and vendors selling their wares in the spirit of good cheer. You might even be able to squeeze in a visit with Santa.
If charming market village vibes are what you’re after, this is the place for you. Atwater Market is already a destination in itself, and the addition of a festive market for four weeks makes it a place worth visiting a little longer. Admission is free with roughly 60 local artisans on site. Explore the Elves’ Kingdom for an interactive experience to help the elves and Santa save Christmas!
