Timber Shuswap

Restaurant

About

“Timber!” is normally a rally cry to get out of harm’s way, but in the Shuswap, it’s a rally cry to make your way to the latest, and arguably greatest, recent addition to the food scene in this region.

Chef Chris Whittaker of Vancouver’s Forage restaurant fame, opened Timber Shuswap in Blind Bay in July of 2022, a farm to table restaurant featuring upscale Canadian cuisine. Whittaker was inducted into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2015 and Forage was listed as one of Canada’s 100 best restaurants. He moved to the Shuswap in 2018 taking on the role of executive chef at the Little Shuswap Lake Band's Quaaout Lodge.

With appreciation for the community and passion for local farmers, ranchers, producers, wineries and breweries, the young family’s commitment to feature the very best the Shuswap has been embraced by the locals, as in, if you’re headed to the region, be sure to grab a reservation ahead of time.

About Shuswap

A relatively undiscovered food lovers’ paradise awaits. Welcome to the Shuswap in BC’s Interior.

Tucked slightly north of the Okanagan, east of the Thompson, and south of the Columbia in British Columbia’s interior, the region offers a four season climate, warmer than its northern neighbours’ winters and more temperate than the Thompson Okanagan summers. The growing conditions are ideal and the region, with a population of 60,000, is two and a half times the size of Prince Edward Island. Agriculturally rich, the Shuswap boasts over 600 farms, or one for every 100 residents, and shares the four arms of Shuswap Lake that has over 1,000 kilometres of shoreline. Nestled between the valleys, hills and mountains, the Shuswap features almost as many hiking, cycling and skiing trails as the lakeshore itself.
