Merridale Cidery and Distillery

Winery

About

Nestled in the heart of the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, Merridale Cidery & Distillery is a family-run farm destination and BC’s first craft cidery and distillery. Combining heritage orchard practices with small-batch innovation, Merridale offers an authentic “taste of place” rooted in sustainable farming, local ingredients, and storytelling.

From orchard to glass, Merridale crafts award-winning ciders and spirits using 100% BC-grown apples, local honey, wild botanicals, and more. Their lineup includes crisp ciders, aromatic brandies, gins, rhumbs (rum), vodka, and fruit liqueurs - all created and
bottled on-site. Visitors can explore the Brandy House and Distillery on guided tours that reveal the region’s terroir and meticulous craft.

At the heart of the farm is Merridale’s rustic farm house eatery, where seasonal, locally sourced dishes come alive alongside house-made breads and pastries. The kitchen creatively uses Merridale’s ciders and spirits in its menu, offering thoughtful food and drink pairings that celebrate the harmony of flavours.

About Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island is a place of powerful contrasts. An ocean-carved land where travellers can journey from wild, windswept coastlines to calm, cultured communities in a single day. Here, visitors can backpack through ancient wilderness parks, marvel at orcas breaching offshore, glimpse black bears in temperate rainforests, or stroll barefoot along crescent-shaped beaches beneath distant snowcapped peaks. From cosmopolitan centres like Victoria to snug harbours and charming small towns, the island invites relaxation, restoration, and reconnection with nature and self.

But Vancouver Island is not just a feast for the eyes, it’s a destination rich in culinary discovery. Its food scene is shaped by deep respect for local ingredients and cultural traditions, offering a blend of bold innovation and time-honoured practices. From ocean-to-table seafood experiences and thriving farmers' markets to Indigenous-led food businesses and celebrated farm-to-fork restaurants, the island’s culinary culture is as diverse as its landscapes. Chefs, farmers, fishers, foragers, and food artisans all contribute to an edible identity that is proudly and uniquely Vancouver Island.
