The Sharing Farm, Richmond, BC
July 16, 2025 (Vancouver, BC) — Burdock & Co is proud to partner with The Sharing Farm for its first long-table dinner of the season, taking place July 29 amid the fields of Richmond’s fertile farmlands.
Guests will gather for a five-course vegetarian feast inspired by the rhythms of the moon and the microseasons, capturing chef Andrea Carlson’s signature expression of time and place.
The menu will showcase the summer’s peak bounty, grown and prepared just steps away. The evening will begin at 6 PM with a guided farm tour, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM.
The Sharing Farm is a nonprofit community farm located on unceded Musqueam territory at 2771 Westminster Hwy in Richmond, BC. Each year, it donates more than 20,000 pounds of fresh produce to local food security programs, including the Richmond Food Bank, the Musqueam Nation, community meal programs and faith-based food initiatives, as well as directly to food insecure families—reaching up to 2,200 people each week. The farm also operates a CSA program, hosts markets, and runs a seasonal farmstand.
A vibrant community hub, The Sharing Farm offers events, workshops, and volunteer opportunities, creating space to connect with the land, sustainable agriculture, and each other. In 2024 alone, it engaged more than 9,000 people through its programs and gatherings.
Andrea Carlson, a trailblazer of sustainable fine dining, was the first female chef-owner in Canada to receive a Michelin star, for Burdock & Co. With a background in organic agriculture and a career shaped by pioneering farm-to-table kitchens, her work is deeply rooted in food security, seasonality, and respect for the land.
This special evening brings together food, land, and community—celebrating the power of seasonal eating and collective care. Proceeds from the dinner will support The Sharing Farm’s mission to grow and share food with those in need.
Tickets: $160 - $190 per person
ABOUT ANDREA CARLSON
Few chefs in Canada are as closely associated with local, organic and sustainable cooking as Andrea Carlson. Hailed the “High Priestess of Pacific Northwest Cuisine” by enRoute Magazine, she is the visionary behind Vancouver’s acclaimed Burdock & Co, Harvest Community Foods (a neighbourhood grocery and noodle café) and Bar Gobo (a hi-fi wine bar).
In 2022, Carlson became the first female chef-owner in Canada to earn a Michelin star, for Burdock & Co, an achievement she has maintained for three consecutive years. Her numerous honours include Foodservice and Hospitality Chef of the Year (2023) and Vancouver Magazine Chef of the Year (2020). She is the co-author (with Clea McDougall) of the award-winning cookbook, Burdock & Co: Poetic Recipes Inspired by Ocean, Land & Air.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Carlson graduated from Dubrulle Culinary Arts (now part of LaSalle College Vancouver) and later studied organic farming and landscape design. She honed her craft and developed her conscientious food-sourcing principles while working for a number of pioneering farm-to-table restaurants, including C Restaurant and Sooke Harbour House. In 2006, as Raincity Grill’s chef de cuisine, she created Canada’s first100-mile tasting menu. She went on to become executive chef of Bishop’s, a revered fine-dining institution. When it opened in 2013, Burdock and Co was the first restaurant in Western Canada to embrace an all-natural wine list. It recently received Vancouver Magazine’s inaugural Sustainability Award.
“Food security is the driving philosophy of my life and work,” she says. “The restaurants exist because I believe in supporting local food systems and people who nurture the land instead of destroying it.”
